Georgia Restaurant Week is July 18-24:
A Great Time to Explore Exotic Options at Marietta Square
Marietta, GA, July 11, 2016 – The Marietta Square is now home to more than 30 eateries, coffee houses and dessert spots. With Georgia Restaurant Week approaching July 18-24, it is the perfect time to get out and support the local culinary scene by exploring the expanding options right here at the Marietta Square. We asked the Foodie gang at Marietta Food Tours about some of the more exotic offerings, and they recommended their TOP FIVE restaurants to try cuisines from around the world. Here are their picks:
House of Lu Known for their Chinese and Vietnamese cuisines, the House of Lu has recently enjoyed an upscale renovation in their interiorand exterior design. The transformation has created an exceptional dining environment to enjoy their specialties like handmade dumplings, egg rolls and their family recipe sauces. They are also known for their authentic Pho soup.
Kiosco Colombian Restaurant This family-owned business is one of the stops on the Marietta Food Tour. A friendly, attentive staff serves their authentic Columbian cuisine in an intimate dining room (seats 30), and so reservations are recommended. They are consistently rated in the top 10 on TripAdvisor for Marietta. Their Sangria is a favorite cocktail selection. Their number-one selling dish is Medio Pollo, half of a roasted chicken flash fried and served with home made raspberry sauce, and their house made desserts like Flan and Tres Leches finish off the perfect meal.
The Australian Bakery Café is the only authentic Australian Bakery east of the Mississippi. The Australian owners joined forces many years ago in their native country, and have continued their love of creating authentic meals “the old-fashioned way.” Graduating at the top of their class, Neville Steel and Mark Allen are Master Bakers. Their breads and Aussie desserts are freshly baked, and they carry a wide line of packaged native products. Their meat pies are considered their specialty, but a lesser-known delicacy is their amazing fish and chips platter.
Piastra A newcomer to the Square, Piastra serves modern Italian cuisines in a newly renovated space. “Food is love” is the motto of this family-owned eatery, and Chef Greg goes to great lengths to make all families feel welcome. With his extensive culinary background, Greg has put together an excellent menu that is GMO free, and that includes delicious, gluten-free options in addition to all your traditional favorites. Their ingredients are locally-sourced and their pastas and breads are made fresh daily.
If you are looking for a true taste of French cuisine, you will find it at Douceur De France. Located just off the Square, authentic Beef Bourguignon and Ratatouille are being made from local and imported ingredients. Chef Luc Beaudet had his formal culinary training in his home country of France, and then took his talents on the road to Tokyo and Dallas before ending up in Atlanta. He now has two restaurants of his own where sweet crepes with fresh fruit, and a vast multitude of tempting pastries are wowing customers daily.

Marietta Food Tours
The idea for Marietta Food Tours was born from our desire to taste cuisines from locally owned and operated restaurants during our travels. The Marietta Food Tours food-tasting experience takes participants on a veritable journey of flavors, all within the picturesque walking environment the square provides. Marietta Food Tours is a welcome addition, complimenting these community offerings and delving into Marietta’s history, culture and architecture, while simultaneously sampling the tempting culinary selections available on the lively square. Ultimately, our tour was created with the intention of introducing others to our flavorful Marietta Square, and to instill the excitement and confidence in our guests to return to the square and take advantage of its unique restaurants, shops and activities.
